Lent Talks
Churches Together in Ruislip are holding a series of Lent Talks on “Christian Ethics in the Workplace” at Ruislip Baptist Church, Manor Way on Tuesdays at 8.00pm. All are welcome to come along and listen to these stimulating talks. Tues 2nd March – Fr Nick Berry (Queen’s Chaplin, RAF Chaplin), Tues 9th March – Dr Peter Briggs OBE (Retired Principal of Southlands College, Scientist & Methodist lay preacher)
Sainsburys Active Kids Vouchers
Once again Sainsburys are issuing their Active Kids Vouchers and 4th Ruislip Windmill Guides are collecting them again. There is a collection box in the porch by the newspapers. Last year, with your help, we got some really useful games equipment. Vouchers are available from 17th Feb-8th June in stores, with on-line shopping and from petrol stations. Thank you.

Fr. Duncan writes:Dear Parishioners, We continue to have good numbers at our Masses during Lent. While Fr Stephen has been here we have been able to have evening Masses. He has to return to Australia to organise his visa and should return before Easter. In the meantime there will be Mass on Friday evenings at 8.00pm and at 8.00am on Thursdays.
Last Wednesday evening Fr John Deehan gave the first of his talks on the Scripture Readings for Lent. The next talk will be on Wednesday 10th March at 8.00pm in Hesdin Hall and will focus on the readings of the Old and New Testament readings for the Sundays in Lent. Please come and join us, if you can
CAFOD Lent Fast Day
CAFOD Lent Fast Day took place on Friday, please give generously to CAFOD in the retiring collection this weekend. Please use an envelope if you can Gift Aid your donation and bring hope to those people living in poverty. This year’s theme “Give it up! is a fantastic way for people in the parish to come together and put their faith into action – marking Let in a very practical and spiritual way. Everyone can get involved, from a 5 year old child to an 80 year old grandparent. Whatever we choose to give up really can help to transform people’s lives overseas”. On behalf of those we reach, we extend heartfelt thanks for your help and prayers.

Pilgrimage to Lourdes
Would you like to come on pilgrimage to Lourdes with us this year? The brochure for this year’s pilgrimage arrived the other day and I have put a copy on the notice board in the porch, with the details of the hotels and prices. We shall be joining with the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes in July (25th to 31st). We will have another meeting to finalise details this Tuesday 2nd March at 7.30pm. In the meantime, please think about the pilgrimage, talk about the pilgrimage and pray about the pilgrimage. For more information, have a word with Fr Duncan.
Confirmation Meeting
There will be a parent and candidates meeting on Tuesday 9th March in Hesdin Hall at 7.30pm for those who have already applied and received letters from Fr. Duncan.
Irish Night
The Social Committee are holding an IRISH NIGHT on Saturday 20th March. Tickets are £15.00 including a 3 course meal, a welcome drink, music and licensed bar. Tickets are available from Tracy, Vanessa, or any committee member.
Children's Liturgy of the Word Term Dates – 10.00am Mass
The remaining dates for this term are today, 28th February and 14th & 28th March. Please note these sessions are designed for children of primary school age and are not suitable for toddlers or children younger than 'Reception' class (age 4 or 5 years). The sessions are a time for learning and discussing the weekly gospel and take the format of 'carpet-time' as in a classroom environment.
Baptism Preparation
The next Baptism Course takes place this Monday 1st March at 8.00pm. If you wish to attend and have not already booked your place, please contact Nicola in the Parish Office.
Hesdin Hall Kitchen
Would all groups please ensure kitchen is left clean and tidy after use. In particular it has been noted that the worktops have become quite cluttered with various items (including toys, dummies etc.) which should NOT even be in the kitchen. Please remove any items left here as these will be disposed of in future without further notice.
Take to Heart these Words – Scripture Readings of Lent & Holy Week
Fr. John Deehan will be giving talks on the scripture readings of Lent and Holy Week during Lent in Hesdin Hall. Dates are 10th March and 24th March at 8.00pm. Details in the porch.
The International World Day of Prayer
This will be hosted by Most Sacred Heart Church this year and will take place this Friday 5th March 2010 starting at 2.00pm. It has been prepared by the Christian women of Cameroon and Sister Janet Fearns from Mill Hill Missionaries who has spent many years working in Africa will be the guest speaker. Everyone is most welcome. The service should last about an hour, after which refreshments will be provided in Hesdin Hall. Help to provide and serve refreshments would be greatly appreciated. Lists can be found at the back of the church for those who can volunteer their services.
Lenten Alms – St. John Southwort
The box for your Lenten Alms donations is near the 2nd Station. Lenten Alms is money we wish to donate to help those less well off than ourselves. This year the Archbishop has asked for monies raised to go to the St John Southworth Fund and the Thai Children's Trust.
