Sacred Heart 70th Anniversary
Please keep free Friday 12th June at 7.30pm when Bishop George Stack will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving for the 70th Anniversary of the opening of our present Church which was opened and consecrated on 15th June 1939. The lists for food are at the back of the Church. Please sign up if you can provide something. Do try to keep the evening free to come along.
Sacred Heart Church Choir & Folk Group
Do you enjoy singing? Are you afraid to join a choir because you don’t think you’re good enough? Not enough time to make it to practices? Perhaps you’re shy about making a commitment that you might not be able to keep? The Sacred Heart Church Choir is relaxed, informal and immensely enjoyable, but we want even more voices. We lead the congregation every 11.30am Sunday Mass, so why not pop up to the Choir Loft after Mass.
Folk Group
The folk group too is open to new members. If you sing or play a musical instrument this is a lovely and enjoyable way of participating at Mass. They play on the 1st and 3rd Sundays at 10.00am. Please speak to Sarah O’Donnell after one of their Masses.

Parish Priest: Fr. Michael Johnston
Parish Administrator: Nicola Burke
Fr. Michael writes: Today we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles, and how as a result of that coming they went out to preach the Gospel to all the world with the gifts given to them. It is a mistake to see this coming as something that happened once and that can never happen again. We all need the Spirit of Jesus. We need him to help us to realise the power we have within us. We need him to release that power so that we can become fearless witnesses of Christ in a world so lacking in faith in God. Thus, even though he is no longer physically among us, his truth and love can still illuminate our world. That is why Jesus sent his Spirit, and the Spirit comes to us in the same way so that we can continue his work.
Welcome & Apologies
To Fr. Bob Moreland, SMA who is helping in our Parish this weekend. We are grateful to him. Apologies from Fr. Franco, the Comboni Father who was unable to come last weekend through sickness. He is rescheduled to come in October.
Many Congratulations
To all our young people of the parish who received the Sacrament of Confirmation yesterday.
World Communication Sunday
Today is World Communication Sunday. The Church uses the media; print; broadcast and new types of media technology to be the tools of hope and truth in spreading Christ’s Gospel message. In this country we have a media office and train individuals in developing the public profile of the Church. Today, at all Masses there is a retiring collection for Catholic Communications in this country. Please be generous.
Baptism Congratulations
Congratulations to Ava McGreal who will be baptised at 11.30am Mass today.
RCIA
The RCIA for this year has finished. It will begin again in September. If you know of someone – husband, wife, friend, neighbour who might be interested in exploring whether God may be calling them to become a Catholic, then please ask them and if so, either you or they should contact me and I will give you further information. The important thing to remember is that we are all called to be evangelizers and to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ
Baptism Preparation
The next Baptism Course takes place this Monday 1st June at 8.00pm. Please book a place with Nicola Burke in the Parish Office
First Friday Lunch
The lunch on Friday 5th June will be the last until October.
APF
We have recently heard from the APF that our annual amount collected through a collection and red boxes was £6211.00. This is the highest amount collected from any parish in our Dioceses. Many thanks to red box holders; collectors; promoters; Peter Sinclair and Muriel Honey. Well done to everyone in Ruislip!
Flowers in June
June is by tradition in the Church the month of the Sacred Heart. During May many people have been most generous in bringing in flowers for the altar and statue of Our Lady. I think it would be very nice to do the same for the Sacred Heart, so that the altar will be full of flowers in thanksgiving to the Sacred Heart for so many blessings. Our floral ladies will be happy to place them in vases.
Altar Servers
Volunteers are still needed for the 70th Anniversary Mass on Friday 12h June at 7.30pm. If you are able to serve this Mass, please put your name on the list in the sacristy
Archbishop of Westminster
Following his installation as Archbishop of the Westminster Diocese, Archbishop Vincent will visit the different areas of the Diocese to celebrate Mass. He will celebrate Mass for the people of our Deaneries at Ealing Abbey on Thursday 4th June at 7.30pm. All are welcome
