Second sunday of the Year

Fr. Michael writes: “Speak, Lord your servant is listening”. We will hear these words at Mass in the first reading this Sunday. They remind us that we are here to listen to God. In the Gospel we hear Jesus say to his first two disciples: “Come and see”. They accepted his invitation and had a wonderful encounter with him after which their lives were never the same again. Christ is forever passing by for each of us. He is always available to those who are sincerely looking for him. But he never barges into our lives. People who love do not act like that. He says to us what he says to John and Andrew:- “Come and see”. If we accept his invitation we can be sure that he will reveal to us the mysteries of God and that our lives will be enriched.

Welcome
This weekend we welcome Fr. Peter Lam, OP from Vietnam who will celebrate the 8.30am and 10.00am Masses.

Our sympathy and prayers to the family of Elizabeth Flaherty whose Funeral Mass takes place this Tuesday 20th January at 10.00am.

Anniversaries
Each week as a matter of practice anniversary names are inserted in the newsletter. Some of these names go back to the 1970’s and are just taken from a book kept over the years. As from next week if an Anniversary Mass is booked for that week, the name will be inserted in the list of anniversaries. Otherwise if you wish a name to be included in the newsletter list of anniversaries you should let Nicola in the Parish Office know at least a week beforehand. If you are booking an anniversary mass please say so on the envelope so that it may be read out as an anniversary of death.
