Fr. Michael writes:The shops; the street decorations; the media tell us that Christmas is just around the corner. But for us the season of Advent tells us that Christmas is four weeks away. Until then we are in the more sombre reflective time that is the purpose of Advent. Advent is a time of preparation and waiting in anticipation for the coming of Christ, both as a baby in the stable at Bethlehem, but also his Second Coming as the Lord of Glory at the end of time. In the Gospel Jesus reminds us that each of us has been assigned our own unique task. We must not be caught off guard or asleep. That is the reason for Christ’s insistence, that we “Stay awake”.
Fr Cristiano
This Monday 1st December Fr. Cristiano leaves for Brazil until 17th December. We wish him well.

The Christmas Bazaar is next Saturday. Please continue to bring gifts, fancy goods, books, toys, DVDs, "Buy 1 get 1 Free offers", toiletries or jewellery and drop them into the bins in the foyer. We still require bottles for our bottle tombola (before Friday drop off via the Presbytery) and groceries which you can also drop off at the hall on Friday 5 December. Attached is a flyer of all the attractions on the day. If you are happy to help on the day or with setting up please just turn up and we will allocate you a job. Finally, please come along to make it a successful day.
Christmas Envelopes
This weekend Christmas Envelopes are available at the back of the Church. These are for your gifts to the priests of our Parish at Christmas. It is this money with the Easter collection which makes up our annual salary as priests. Please take an envelope and if you are not here over Christmas, drop it in beforehand.
The History of Sacred Heart School 1937 - 2008 We are delighted to inform parishioners that Eileen Bowlt has written a book on the history of Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School. The book is similar to the one that Eileen previously wrote on the Most Sacred Heart Church. The book has taken well over a year to compile, during which time Eileen has interviewed former pupils and staff, collected photographs and memories and carried out a great deal of archive research. The finished product is a wonderful record of the school from its inception in 1937 to the present day and an ideal Christmas present! Copies are now available in the repository for £7 each or alternatively you are welcome to pop into the school office to collect a copy on any school day. Please spread the news to anyone you know associated with the school in the past.
