Feast of All Saints
Fr. Michael writes: :Today we celebrate All Saints. We honour not just the canonised saints, who are more than likely to be well-known, but all the uncanonised ones, who are unknown and unrecognised. They are reminders to us of what life is all about. They encourage us. They inspire us. And yes, they intercede for us, so that we may be bolder in walking the path of the Gospel. There is a tendency to polish up the image of saints so that their humanity disappears. But if they cease to be human, they become unreal and unbelievable. This is wrong. The saints should give us a vision of a higher and purer life. They inspire us to try to win back our finer, kinder and healthier selves. They expand the possibilities of human love and courage. That is why we celebrate this feast today.
Will you help sick and elderly priests today?
There will be a special collection for the Sick & Retired Priests’ Fund today and all the money that you give will be used to ensure that sick and elderly priests receive the care and support that they need. The Fund is entirely dependent on donations and each year more priests need its support. So it is vital that you give as much as you can. If you pay tax, please complete the Gift Aid form on the donation envelopes, as this will add 28p to every £1 that you give at no extra cost to yourself.
With Sympathy
Our sympathy and prayers to the family of Dennis King whose Funeral Mass takes place this Tuesday 4th November at 10.00am, also to the family of Dennis Joiner whose Funeral Mass takes place next Thursday 6th November at 10.00am.

Parish Christmas Bazaar – Saturday 6th December, 10.30am-2.30pm
Are you getting your home ready for a "Christmas sort out"? There will be collection bins in the foyer for donations to the Bazaar from 1st November. If you have any unwanted gifts or fancy goods, books, toys, DVDs, "Buy 1 get 1 Free offers", toiletries or jewellery please drop them into the bins. We are not having a Bric-a-Brac stall, therefore all items should in a very good and saleable condition and that you would be happy to buy yourself (no broken items or goods that you are throwing away). We are also keen to receive groceries and bottles (for our bottle tombola stall and for prizes - please hand them in via the presbytery). We will be looking for cake and perishable donations nearer the time. If you are happy to help at the bazaar or with setting up there is a clipboard in the foyer. Helpers for sorting out next Friday 7 November, the time has been changed to 9.00-10.30 due to 1st Friday Lunch
November Holy Souls
November by tradition is the month of the Holy Souls. The box with the lists of your deceased family and friends is now by the altar and those names will be remembered at all our Masses. Tomorrow, Monday 3rd November is the Feast of All Souls, we hope many people will come to Mass at 10.00am. Next Saturday 8th November at 6.00pm we have our Bereavement Mass and welcome all the families who have lost a loved one in the past year.
First Friday Lunch
The next lunch will be on Friday 7th November at 12.30 in the Coffee Lounge. Come and share a light lunch for £3 per person plus raffle. Good food, lovely company and helping through the Jubilee Trust.
For Interest
Over the past few weeks we have been counting the numbers at each Mass, which we have to do each year for the Diocese. Our total numbers each week were 1279; 1342; 1382 and 1249. The average Mass attendance at 10.00am is 500, while the lowest Mass attendance is the Sunday evening mass with 170. An average of 200 attend the 11.30am mass which has steadily increased, thanks, I believe to our good choir and Adrian’s hard work.
