Saint Peter and Saint Paul
Fr. Michael writes: : In June 2007 Pope Benedict XVI announced a special Jubilee year to the Apostle Paul to mark the bi-millennium of his birth. The Holy Year begins this weekend to June 2009 and is being marked both in our Diocese and our parish. A special icon of St. Paul, blessed by the Cardinal will travel to many parishes in our Diocese. It will come to us from 20th-26th September when each day we will have the Novena and Litany to St. Paul. We will also have some talks in the Deanery given by Fr. John Deehan and a talk in September by Bishop John Arnold in Hesdin Hall. Also available on the table in the porch is the Litany of St. Paul for all to say each day. We have much to learn from him. St. Paul, a former violent persecutor of Christians, having fallen to the ground on the road to Damascus, dazzled by the divine light, changed sides to the Crucified One and followed him without second thoughts; for him he suffered and died. Today, as in earlier times, Christ needs us to live and work for him. In celebrating St. Paul’s life, inspired writings, spirituality and missionary spirit let us all call on his intercession. .
Welcome
Welcome this weekend to Fr. Angel Reigades who comes to us from Spain and will be helping in the parish while Fr. Agustin is away on holiday.
