Corpus Christi
Fr. Agustin writes: : On this Sunday we celebrate one of the most important feasts in the life of the Church. The Feast of Corpus Christi celebrates the central mystery of our faith; the gift of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Jesus Christ given to us from the altar at every mass and reserved for us at all times in the tabernacle so that we may worship and adore him. Christ is among us, not only in spirit but physically. The bread and the wine do not just represent or symbolise the Lord but truly become his body and his blood. What an amazing gift! May this feast rekindle our faith and love for this marvellous mystery so that we may come to worship the Lord more fervently in the sacrament of Holy Communion.
Welcome
Congratulations to those baptised in our Church yesterday – Joseph Morris, Joshua Garry-Stratford, Michael Crouch, Callum Reid and Luca Gell, and to Katie Chapman and Molly Lakin baptised at 11.30am mass today. .
Congratulations
Many congratulations and prayers to the 73 children who received First Holy Communion for the first time over these past weeks and to the 53 young people who received the Sacrament of Confirmation. A big thank you to all the catechists involved; the choir and folk group; the servers and floral ladies, and collectors.
YCAP
We congratulate all the young people who received the Sacrament of Confirmation last weekend and extend to them a special invitation to develop and maintain the new friendships they have discovered by coming along to the Parish Youth Group, YCAP. YCAP exists as an opportunity for young people, 13 to 18 years old, to meet in a spirit of fun and friendship. In addition to pizza and coke, the group enters into lively, challenging and open discussions on topics relevant to young people today. It explores and develops our faith and how the Gospel message relates to our day to day lives and strives to find ways of making young people central to the life of the parish with initiatives such as Youth Masses incorporating "young people's" music. Much enjoyed DVD evenings and outings to places such as Westminster Cathedral, soup kitchens and care homes are scheduled for the coming year; so please do come along on Sunday evenings between 7 and 8.30pm in the Coffee Lounge. The next meeting will be on Sunday 25th of May.
Bank Holiday Monday
This Monday 26th May is a Bank Holiday. Mass will be celebrated at 10.00am and the Church will then close.
Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
Next Friday 30th May is the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, the patron of our parish. Mass will be at 10.00am followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament until noon. Exposition will open with the litany of the Sacred Heart. Please try and come along to Mass
and Exposition next Friday to celebrate our Feast. |
