Fr. Agustin writes: Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, the day that marks the beginning of the Season of Lent, a time of renewal for the entire Christian Community. The Church underlines that Lent is indeed a period of joyful renewal which comes about through our preparation for the celebration of the Paschal Mystery. Anyone who has prepared an important joyful event (wedding, anniversary, birthday…) knows that half of the joy comes from the preparation itself. Although a lot of time and effort is spent, the work of preparing can also give us new life, energy and excitement. So how should we prepare for Easter? Here below you can find
some suggestions that may help you to prepare for the great feast of Christ’s Resurrection:
Ash Wednesday : Masses and distribution of ashes at 10.00 am and 7.00 pm. Ash Wednesday is a Day of Fasting and Abstinence.
Weekday Mass : 10.00 am daily. Tuesday and Thursday – 10.00 am and 7.00 pm.
Why not try to come to Mass each day during Lent?
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament : Takes place in the Church each day from Monday to Saturday from 10.30 am to 12 noon. Why not take the time to pop into Church even for a few minutes to keep company with our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament?
Rosary : Every morning at 9.30 am in the Church, the rosary is recited. The rosary is a lovely way of prayer and to start the day.
Thursday Night Prayer Group : Every Thursday at 8.00 pm in the Warrender Room, open to all who wish to develop and deepen their prayer life in a group situation.
Stations of the Cross : Will take place every Monday of Lent at 7.00 pm.
Confessions : Take place every Saturday from 10.30 am to 11.30 am and 5.15 pm to 5.30 pm. Why not this Lent get into the discipline of coming regularly to the grace and forgiveness of the Sacrament of Forgiveness?
Home Prayer Group : A prayer group will meet each Wednesday evening at 7.30 pm in Lent, starting on Ash Wednesday- 6th February. All are welcome. Further details from Ed Komorowski on 01895 632003.
Friday 15th February is Lenten Fast Day in which we are asked to fast and give the profits to CAFOD’s retiring collection at Masses on Sunday 17th of February.
Please pray for the 7 members of our RCIA who are to be received fully into our Church at the Easter Vigil.
Welcome to Bishop Alan Hopes
A big welcome this weekend to Bishop Alan Hopes who is making a two day Parish Visitation to us. During that time he will meet as many people as possible and will preach and be available at the end of all Masses. I am sure that he will find us to be welcoming and hospitable here in Ruislip and hope he enjoys his time with us.

Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill

Anniversary of the Apparitions of Our Lady to St. Bernadette
You will know that the year 2008 marks the 150th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady to St. Bernadette. To mark the anniversary the Cardinal and auxiliary Bishops will celebrate Mass at Westminster Cathedral on Saturday 16th February at 3.00 pm. The Sacrament of the Sick will be administered during that Mass.
