Peace Sunday – Retiring Collection
Next Sunday our parish will celebrate Peace Sunday which offers us an opportunity to reflect on the Holy Father’s World Peace Day message. This year the theme is “The Human Family: Community of Peace”.
To join Pax Christi, or to find out more about its work, pick up a Pax Christi leaflet from the back of the church next weekend.
Mass Intentions
Many thanks to those parishioners who co-operated so generously in allowing their Mass to be said by the Divine Word Missionaries. This has reduced the waiting list considerably and Masses should be said within a few weeks rather than several months.
The Divine Word Missionaries are always so grateful for Masses, so if you have no objection to your Mass being passed on to the Missionaries then perhaps you would be kind enough to put on your Mass envelope “can be sent out”. Alternatively if you wish to have your Mass said in this Church then just underline “Sacred Heart Ruislip” at the top of the Mass envelope OR write “in this Church” and we should get the message! With renewed thanks for your help over the past five months.

Fr. Agustin writes: On this Sunday we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord which is really a continuation of last Sunday’s solemnity of the Epiphany. The Baptism of the Lord is yet another Epiphany; another powerful manifestation of who Christ is, of his identity as God’s beloved son. Like the visit of the Magi, the Baptism of the Lord by John in the Jordan helps us to see God’s action and his presence in Christ. At the end of this Christmas season may the celebration of the Baptism of the Lord bring us to the full
realisation of who Christ really is for us, in our lives. He is not simply a nice idea or a noble example to follow or a good man we should struggle to imitate. This Feast proclaims that Christ is truly the Son of God, his beloved Son, on whom his favour rests. Christ is the one who can bring in us the divine life of the Trinity.
Welcome
Today we welcome Fr. Dan O’Connell M.H.M who will help with Mass this weekend.
2008 White Flower Appeal
The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) will be holding its annual White Flower Appeal this weekend. In common with the Catholic Church, SPUC defends and upholds the sanctity of human life from conception until natural death. The Society opposes laws and policies which violate or threaten human life and provides trained speakers for schools, colleges and also a range of pro-life support services. Please give generously to this very worthy cause.
